Waiting On Wednesday (4): The Scorpio Races, Maggie Stiefvater

What is it?
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The Scorpio Races
by Maggie Stiefvater (author website)
Order:  Book Depository  |  The Scorpio Races
Pub Date:  Nov 29, 2011

From Goodreads:
It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die.

At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.

Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.

Okay, okay, I KNOW it's already published, and I know you're all like 'huh?', but I'm STILL WAITING FOR MY COPY TO ARRIVE IN THE MAIL AND IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY, AND WHY, BOOK DEPOSITORY, WHY?! WHY ARE YOU TAKING 5 WHOLE DAAAAAYYYYYS TO SEND IT INTERNATIONALLY TO ME WHHHAAAAAA!

*cough* So now that's out of the way, I'm very excited and impatiently waiting to get my hands on this :D

So tell me: what are you waiting on this week?

  1. Oh Gosh... Im almost beside UK and it takes a week for books from Bookdepository to get here...I cant imagine how many weeks it takes to get to Australia U_U.... ooh dear! ENDURE!! your book will soon be at your door! btw... THIS BOOK WAS PURE DELIGHT!! Beautiful!! the writing, the characters, the story! the messages of the book! everything, absolitely everything was beautiful! I cried with this book. Because of this book, I am super fan of Maggie now! I hope you love it as much as I. I have a review of it in case you want to know my opinion ^^U

I have read reviews about people who didnt like this much too much, but while reading their reviews I noticed it was mostly because they were expecting a book about romance (like in Shiver). This book is not about Romance, though we do have it in the story. BUt is much more than that. There a lot of themes on the book. SO just to let you know (just in case) this is not a romance book. Hopefully, you wont be deceive and love this book with all your heart ^_^. For me, it certainly deserve it!

  2. I've heard such good things about this one I should be more excited but I was less than thrilled with The Wolves of Mercy Falls series so...I'm worried. I do want to try it, though. it sounds completely different.

  3. Aww, I hate when Book Depository takes so long! Though to be honest it's usually the fastest source I have to get books here to Sweden. I'm currently waiting for Shatter Me! I seriously cannot wait to read it. Want it nowwwww

  5. Aw, you guys! Thanks for your sympathies. I have to admit, I *was* being silly: 5 days is standard shipping from the UK to AUS. I can't really complain, I just wanted that darn book XD

@Natalia: Thanks you for the heads up! I'm really excited for this book. Romance, or no. I <3 Maggie Stiefvater's writing, and the book sounds incredible :D

@Rebecca, I hope you get your Shatter Me soon! It's SOOOO good!

  6. I've heard a lot of great things about this book, but sadly, it just doesn't seem like my type of read. I've also tried her other series and couldn't quite get into it either. Thanks for stopping by!

  15. Haha I hope you get your copy soon!!!! BECAUSE IT IS AMAZING!! And omg Maggie Stiefvater, why are you so damn talented? She could write about snails falling in love and it would be the most heart-rendering romance you ever read <3

ALSO: I think I may be in love with you. You're AUSTRALIAN (best country in the galaxy) AND vegetarian? AND you're a totally weird M&M sorter? (yes, I read your bio). Yep, totally stalking you now.
