Waiting On Wednesday (5): Touch Of Power, Maria V. Snyder

What is it?
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Touch Of Power
by Maria V. Snyder (author website)
Pre-Order:  Book Depository  |  Amazon
Pub Date:  Dec. 20, 2011

From Goodreads:
Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life...

Ever since I devoured Poison Study, and could think of nothing but Yelena and Valek and Yelena and Valek and Yelena and Valek and getting my hands on the next two books now now now now now, I've been an dedicated fan of Maria V. Snyder. BFF and I were lucky enough to see her at an author event in Sydney (AU) earlier this year, and she was very fun indeed!

I've heard such good things about this book, and I'm so So SO excited. Looks like Christmas will come a couple of days early for me this year :)

And Maria has just today given us a peek at the Australian cover! Check it out! It's SOOO pretty! Guess what? She's also offering a signed copy of Touch Of Power. Head over to her blog for a chance to win it!

We have VERY different covers for Maria's books in Australia. Check out our cover for Poison Study!

@Chrissie: I really love MVS. Her Poison Study books are fab (thought the last in the series was a tad dissapointing). Her Study/Glass books are my fave. And if you liked Across The Universe, her Outside/In books might appeal :)

@Anna: YAY! I love you already! I loved the Study series, but was really dissapointed by Fire Study... the Glass series were fun... but a bit more of the same, maybe? I got really annoyed at the 'get kidnapped! Run away!' thing over and over

@Giselle: Yes, me too! I'm so excited. She's a fab author, and deserves the attention, and it's great, because I want this book to be great. She's put out a couple that I was kind of 'hmmmm...' about.

@Rebecca: Oh, you're in for such a good surprise when you get to them... well, I think so, anyways XD Poison Study is one of my all-time fave books.

@Shellie: Thank you! All these fab little reviews have me SOOOO excited!

@Kat: MVS is fab. This is the first in a new series. I'm excited for it (haha! Obviously!) :D

  23. Why haven't I read Poison Study by now? I've been pining for those books since the start of forever, no joke. It amazes me that I've gone this long without reading the series! And now with A Touch of Power - jeez, what an effing fabulous cover! - I feel like a fool. I want to know the awesomeness of Maria V. Snyder!
