Follow My Blog Friday (7)

'Follow My Blog' Friday is a meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The idea is to meet other book bloggers, and get to know one another. What a fun idea, and opportunity!

Featured blogs: Books Are Vital & Once Upon A Time

Q: When you've read a book, what do you do with it? Keep it, give it away, swap it, donate it, sell it?

You guys, I'm with Rachel on this one. A book hoarder is EXACTLY what I am. I have an image in my head of me sitting on a pile of books saying 'Preciouses! Preciouses', like Gollum >.<

I love books in all their colours, shapes and sizes, and I have books at home I have no intention of reading but they're just SO PRETTY. I even keep books I HATE, because books are like, you know, sacred objects.

On that note, would anyone in Australia like a copy of Evernight by Claudia Gray? Use the form on my Contact page to shoot me an email if you do, or leave a comment? I'll post it to you free. It's the first book I've ever WANTED to get rid of.

I'm a big lender if books, though. So I collect them, but they're never dusty :D What about you?

  1. I knew you were going to mention the fact that you keep books solely because they're pretty. hahaha. :P

  2. hi, I'm a new follower! Haha, I'm there with you on the pretty part! Book covers are so important to me and I've been known to scour eBay for the better looking cover. I almost never get rid of my books.

  6. Haha! My books are never dusty as well! I cleaned the shelf once a month and lay books that I like less on top of the ones I like a lot so that it won't turn yellow and dusty....(oh gosh, I'm a freak)

  7. LOL reading all these FF posts is reminding me of that Julian Smith video clip, I'm Reading A Book - because we're all such obsessive, psychotic book readers. I love it :D I'm a part-time book hoarder. Not full-time because I giveaway any double copies I have or else ones that I didn't like or don't think I'll ever read. And considering I now have too many books for my poor old bookshelf, I'm glad I'm able to part with some haha.

Also, unrelated to your FF post: You do know your comments always leave a smile on my face, right? <3 Congrats on getting your P plates!! That means it's 'technically' safe to use the roads while you're on them, right? And if it helps you resist the urge to buy, there IS still sparkly in Drink Slay Love, with the unicorns. But how could your husbandman ( LOL love how you refer to him) deny a sparkly unicorn?! I think there are some anti-cruelty laws against that.

  9. @Brodie: Mwaha! I'm glad for smiles. I always worry when I hit 'publish' I'm gonna have the opposite effect. Or at the very least, scowls. Your comments kind of do the same. I grinned like a loon when you commented about my M&Mn problem a few weeks ago.
My mum calls him husbandman, too--it's his superhero name XD

  10. Hey Sarah, just stopping by. I am right there with you. I keep all books, even if I hated them. It's a real problem when I actually have to get rid of furniture in my room so my precious books have a home.

  16. Hi Sarah!

It's Melannie from Books Are Vital! Thank you for visiting me over there, :) wanted to tell you that the video you share with me, the Julian I'm reading a book one, is hilarious! I think he wrote the song based on my life! :D

Oh and btw, funny how you wanted to get rid of Evernight, it was bad but I didn't hate it that much, though that's a book I passed on too, I don't even remember to whom I gave my copy.

So anyway, lovely blog! new follower :)

    See you around!

  17. Yeah, I'm with you on that one! I would love to share and trade more books if I could. I only donate books I can't get through or dislike when I need room, since I'd rather have my favorites on the shelf. ;)

  18. I think I'm in the minority - I get 99% of my books from the library. I don't like to hold on to things - minimalist by nature - so having a ton of books would freak me out. I do have my authors whose books I collect though.

  19. I usually get books from my library, and also buy books! I love collecting books!

  20. Hey there,
Just stopping by to return the follow.
I used to hoard my books back in the days when I only bought hardcover books for my collection. Then I realized I was missing out on a whole bunch of stuff only available in paperback. And once the paperback buying began, my book cases filled out a lot faster than I thought they would. Needless to say, I started lending and donating those books that I hated afterwards.

    Have a grand weekend!

  21. LOL, I used to be a book hoarder but I live in a tiny flat and there just wasn't enough space for me, all my books, my husband and my two kids so something had to go! So now I have a few keepers but the rest normally get donated to the library I used to work at :)
