The Golden Lily
by Richelle Mead (author website)
Pub Date: June 19th 2012 by Razorbill
From Goodreads:
Tough, brainy alchemist Sydney Sage and doe-eyed Moroi princess Jill Dragomir are in hiding at a human boarding school in the sunny, glamorous world of Palm Springs, California. The students—children of the wealthy and powerful—carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.
Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Richelle Mead’s breathtaking Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive. In this second book, the drama is hotter, the romances are steamier, and the stakes are even higher

OK, I've spent pretty much the entire last week completely absorbed in the Vampire Academy series. I've only 100 pages to go in Last Sacrifice, then Bloodlines, then... WHAT DO I DO NOW?!!!!!!!
To say I'm 'waiting' seems to imply a degree of patience, but at the moment, I'm wondering if I can put myself in some kind of cryogenic freeze until June. There's an episode of South Park where Cartman tries to just do this... I may watch it again and take notes...

I love the Vampire Academy series! I haven't read Bloodlines, and The Golden Lily sounds promising. I like the cover a lot! Great choice! Thank you for sharing it!

The VA series was excellent. I also liked Bloodlines. It wasn't as fun as VA, but I am happy that the series continued. JK Rowling should take notice and keep writing!
ReplyDelete@Samual: I'm just finishing the VA series now, and have Bloodlines lined up. SO OBSESSED. I really like this cover, too!
ReplyDelete@I'm obsessed with the VA series at the moment... shame Bloodlines isn't as fun... hmm... I guess it starts out at a darker place than VA did? I'm really looking forward to more Adrian. Poor boy needs smoe more love in his life. I am SOOOO WITH YOU on JKR! The world isn't quite as bright without more books from her... seriously, though, she'd never need to write another book in her life... and I suppose she could be secretly writing something else under a pseudonym? Hmmm...
Great choice!! Unfortunately I haven't been able to read any of the Vampire Academy books..but one of my book goals this year is too!! I have heard amazing things about the series and I really want to give them a shot :)
ReplyDelete@Sarah: Oh, you so should! I put off reading them, and even read VA, then none of the others... but come book 3... oh, they get SO. GOOD. You'll love them XD
ReplyDeleteOhh, this just reminds me to continue VA even more! I never got further after book one, but I have them all waiting. Lol! I'm especially curious about this spin-off since a friend with similar taste liked it a lot better. I bet it's worth the wait. o: You can do it! Maybe you'll be lucky and get an ARC!
ReplyDelete@Rebecca: Oh, you NEED to! I was the same: I read Vampire Academy months ago, and stopped. Frostbite is even better, but once it gets to book 3, these books get AMAZING. I've been bingeing on them the last week :D
ReplyDeleteI want this book so badly! Loved Bloodlines and thought it was better than the very first Vampire Academy book. Sydney and Adrian = such an awesome team. Already preordered this book . . . only proves my desperation. haha. :)
ReplyDelete@Erin: OH MY GOODNESS. Seriously. SO. OBSESSED. I want it tooooo! I'm desperate to see Adrian get a little light in his life. I think pre-ordering a book 6 months in advance is perfectly rational behaviour :D
ReplyDeleteGreat pick!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year
I say this all the time but I have got to get around to reading some Richelle Mead.
ReplyDeleteSCREAMING...YES! I see you still need to finish Last Sacrifice before getting to Bloodlines, so I won't spoil anything, but ahhhhhhhh!!!! You are going to be dying for The Golden Lily once you finish Bloodlines. DYING. And I'm not exaggerating. Excellent choice! :D
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to this book!! Bloodlines those last 4 words....makes me very excited!!for The Golden Lily. I have been reading lots of Richelle Mead lately, so waiting a little impatiently for this one:D
ReplyDeleteMichelle
I haven't read the first one even though i own it, but I'm hoping to read it before this one comes out! :D

Here is our WOW pick
The cover of this one looks very different to the others. It's interesting cos I'm not a big fan of the covers and I don't know that I LIKE this one but I think it's an improvement on the others. One of the ones in the VA series reminds me of a young Angelina Jolie every time I see it and it bugs me. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I bet you mean Last Sacrifice.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't actually a VA book--it's the second in a spin-off serieS. The first one is called Bloodlines. The covers are VERY different.
Also: I know it's weird, but I really like spines of these :D
ReplyDeleteI haven't got around to reading Bloodlines yet but it's definitely on my TBR list. Great pick :)
ReplyDeleteI've read all the books in the "Vampire Academy Series" and loved them. I have "Bloodlines" but lent it out the week it was released and still haven't got it back from them yet :( So I'm still waiting to read it. I've already added "The Golden Lily" to my wishlist :) Great Waiting On Wednesday Choice

I've yet to read VA series and Bloodlines. Maybe I should take a week to read them like you did. Great pick!
ReplyDelete@Chrissie: I actually haven't either. But I'm SO. EXCITED.
ReplyDelete@Natasha: I JUST finished Last Sacrifice last night! UHMAZING! I have Bloodlines, but I think I'm going to have a breather between the two series so I can appreciate it more :D
@Brodie: YESSSSSSS! OK, so. I didn't read the whole ending of Bloodlines, but I read the last line and OMFGASDFG! NEEED GOLDEN LILY!
@Majanka: Mwaha! Clearly great minds think alike :D
@Mesa: Oh you should totally read them. The first two are good, but the rest are GREAT. AMAZING!
EEk! I have to read Bloodlines before this is out. I'M so behind! O_o
