In My Mailbox (12)

In My Mailbox: What is it?
In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren. It's an opportunity to share the books we've bought or received in the last week!

OK, so, this was a ridiculously exciting week for me... well, it's actually more of a week and a half, but hey, who cares? Personally, there's nearly NOTHING better in the world than coming home to find books in the mail... actually, there may be one thing better: coming home to find to find a box full of candy and mix CD's from internet BFF, Kristin, or a package with vegan mint slices and a card in the mail from your favorite evil overlord, but books are a REALLY close second.

This mailbox is further proof of the unrivalled awesome of BFF, Lauren (her blog's PURPLE! With skeletons! And I love her even more for disagreeing on just about every book we've read in common except Poison Study, which is our mutual love). Seriously, she is made of awesome, and she gave me THE FAULT IN OUR STARS AND CINDER! AAAAAH! Seriously, she's amazing, and you can't have her because she's miiiiiiiiine!

From top to bottom:

  1. Timeless, Gail Carriger
  2. Nightshade Series, Andrea Cremer
  3. Cinder, Marissa Meyer
  4. Choker, Elizabeth Woods *
  5. The Fault In Our Stars, John Green
  6. Vampire Academy (graphic novel. WITH NAKED BADASS RUSSIAN GOD CHEST!), Richelle Mead
* An enormous thank you to Simon & Schuster Australia for providing a review copy of Choker!

  4. I wish I had a best friend who loved to read as much as me. Frankly, my friends don't understand my fascination with them. Well... apart from one, who reads almost as avidly as I do, though we don't really share the same tastes. EXCEPT, she IS reading The Hunger Games. It's a sad day when your friend who isn't into YA books and isn't a book blogger, reads The Hunger Games before you. *shakes head*

MOVING ON, Cinder is amazing, as we all know, and I can't wait to start reading The Fault in Our Stars. And how awesome is that that you have the entire Nightshade series?!? I just love seeing complete sets like that. Listen, I really want to send you something for your you know what and unless you're totally adverse to the idea, LIKE YOUR FAVORITE EVIL OVERLORD WHO IS GIVING ME THE HARDEST TIME, tweet me with three book picks $10 under, okay? If not, then that's cool... I guess. *pouts*

    Still <3 you, though.

    1. Ooooh, seriously... she's reading THG before you? ASHER! NO! Quick! Start reading! Beat her to it! Mwaha!

It's pretty awesome. BFF is actually my cousin AND next-door neighbour, as well :D

We disagree on a LOT of books, but we both love talking about them :D

EEEEE! CINDER! *happy dances* can't wait! And TFIOS! And Nightshade! AND AND AND!!!!

Aaah, Asher, I ♥ you. I WILL send you something. Promise. Hmmm... let me look? xx

oooh... What's our evil overlord's problem? I'll tweet you.

    2. She's kind of bullying me as much as you and your Evil Overlord to read it. I've set myself to read it next weekend, specifically on Saturday.

Geezus Spice, you get it all wrapped into one. That's kind of amazing. My sisters and I are pretty close, and everyone in my household loves reading so that's neat, but it's not the same as having someone a little more distant and outside of, you know, where you sleep.

I'm hoping you'll like Cinder as much as I do. In fact, I'm really counting on it.

I knew I could count on you, sarah *grins*

  7. You've got a great mailbox this week! It's really good to have a friend who shares the same interest in books. My friends usually gave me the "huh" expression whenever I blabber a lot about books to them.

    Anyway, enjoy your books!

  10. Argh - I'm so ridiculously excited about Timeless! Although I'm not entirely happy about it being the end of the series, for the meantime I'm focussing on having more Lord Maccon to read about!

The Nightshade series looks fabulous too. And Cinder (which I'm really starting to feel like I must read right now). A lot of great books in yours - jealous :)

  13. GRRRRR, hate you. Why do you buy all the books I want? It's been so long since I bought books. OMG, Cinder. You need to tell me how that one is right away. I keep going back and forth on whether I should buy it.

My IMM will be next week. I am trying to do memes every other week because I feel like I do too many. Want to make sure I have more reviews than anything.

  14. NOT TRUE! I also like HPOTTS and Emma and Graceling and Runemarks and The Graveyard Book and the first Cat and Bones book and Soulless and Terry Pratchett and Jasper Fforde.

  21. Ahhh you got such AMAZING books this week. <3 I can't wait for you to read The Fault in Our Stars - just make sure you read it somewhere private because all the reviews I've read say that they balled their eyes. out.

SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO READ THE NIGHTSHADE TRILOGY. <3 I need to read that as well frammit. Everyone is telling me how AMAZING it is! ARGH.

And again, I hope you had an AMAZING birthday Sarah. <3 <3 <3

  22. Cinder! Eeee! Love it! Can't wait to hear your thoughts Sarah! I've only read Nightshade and I don't know if I'll read the rest of the series. Hope you enjoy them!
Awesome haul--you have an awesome friend! <3

  23. Gah, Sarah. I don't know what it is about you, but every book you get, I want to get. Why is that? Haha! (And Lauren is awesoooome!)

Timeless looks really interesting; I actually didn't know what to think about it when I clicked it, but when I checked the summary of the first book, I realized that it's a "comedy of errors". Dear god, I was SO confused when I saw the summary of the third. I was like, "W-wait, what?!" Haha! I'll give it a shot!

I want to try Cinder since it's set in New Beijing; I've been wanting to read books set in countries other than America for a while, and since it seems good, why not, right? Choker seems interesting, too. But The Fault In Our Stars! That is a must-read. I'm following John Green on Twitter and he is just hilarious but I have yet to read anything he's written!

Now about the Vampire Academy graphic novel... I laughed at what you added, haha! Oh my goodness, Dimitri. I'm giggling a little. I don't think I'm going to get the graphic novel, personally, but now I'm rereading the series in my free time. It's an easy read anyway, so. ;)

Have a great week, girl, and enjoy all your books (and half-naked Dimitri)! ;D

  24. Aren't stacked books the most gorgeous thing to look at? They're so PRETTY! I could stare for hours and just imagine what it feels like and how it will look in my bookshelf and in certain lighting and beside other books. Anyway, EEEEEEEEEEEEE. WHAT AMAZING BOOKS!

You know how I feel about The Fault in Our Stars and Cinder. Ah. May. Zing. And even with the worst spoiler possible for TFIOS, you're still gonna love it. I hope haha. I want you to BAWL. I want it to crush your heart your beating heart. I should feel bad for wishing that, but I really, really don't.

And weee! Nightshade! And Choker! (was going to start that today, but it got bumped to the side by a new arrival). NEAR NAKED DIMKA! *puts lusty charm necklace around your neck* *WIGGLES EYEBROWS*

  25. Oh I love the Nightshade books! Still need to read Bloodrose though - kind of don't want the series to end!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ooooh Sarah, you have some AMAZING reading ahead of you!

Cinder is probably the best book I've read this year <3 <3 <3 It's so inventive and charming and just GOOD. I can't wait for you to meet Cinder and Prince Kai :D I hope you love it!!

Ahh, I got TFIOS a couple of weeks ago and I can't wait to get started on it! I keep hearing such fabulous things about it and I am going to be armed with a box of tissues when I get started.

Hope you have an awesome reading week! <3

  29. Naked Dimka! Pardon while I fan myself and drool unattractively all over my computer. :D

Seriously, that's a pretty FANTASTIC set of books. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS??? WHEN DO YOU WANT TO START???!!! We can TOTALLY do this weekend if you'd like. I don't think DoSaB will take you very long :D

SQUEEEE!! Can't wait for your reviews!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I SOOO want to read Cinder, I've heard it's amazing! The Fault in Our Stars, I've heard such good things about too but I'm not sure if it's for me or not - so I look forward to your review! I haven't read anything by Andrea Cremer, I hope you like that series! Timeless - that series looks interesting I haven't read any of those books but they definitely pique my interest a lot! Eventually I'll break down and pick one up :D

I hope you love them all! :D
