Blogspiration (30): Alchemists

Blogspiration is a weekly meme hosted by GrowingUp YA & Saz101. The meme was created to help spark inspiration among bloggers, readers & writers alike. An inspirational quote/picture/video is posted weekly, on the day of the author's choosing, so that it may inspire creativity, conversation & just a little SOMETHING.

The true alchemists do not change lead into gold; they change the world into words. William H. Gass - A Temple Of Texts

Author Appreciation August is well underway, and when I saw this quote, I knew I had to share it. It fits in perfectly with the month, don't you think? There's an elusive balance of magic and science involved in that perfect book--the one that stays with you; that haunts your dreams and waking hours. So that's it: authors are alchemists. I like it :D

  9. Truer words have never been said. What's gold compared to a story that moves you so much you can't get it out of your head.

  10. Wow, that is so perfect. *sits and reflects for several minutes*
I freaking love it. ♥ Authors amaze me with all the stuff they have in their heads and it just somehow tumbles down onto paper/computer and gets transformed into these stories that we get to read.
Like, the Fever series for example: that whole ginormo, beautiful, complicated story came from Karen Moning's head. She fucking CREATED that. It just blows me away.

I bow down to anyone who can do that sort of thing. It's the ultimate gift.

  12. It DOES fit in perfectly with AAA! I absolutely adore this quote, but then you make it even more amazing by adding the Sarah Flair.

There's an elusive balance of magic and science involved in that perfect book--the one that stays with you; that haunts your dreams and waking hours. So that's it: authors are alchemists.

This sound be on t-shirts and signs and text on random, pretty graphics and then used in other Blogspiration posts <3

  14. Ah-ah-ah! I like this so much.
And it's so amazing when you start thinking about it, how the same book, the same words on the same pages can speak to us in a thousand different ways. Because we all see the world slightly differently, at different times and in different places.
And then when you think about it some more, and just words full stop are amazing. After all, they're really just arbitrary little black squiggles but they have so much magic inside.
Whoa, Sarah, now my thoughts are going all over the place :-D
LOVE IT. LOVE YOU ALSO. *hugs*
