Blogspiration (48): Advice to Aspiring Writers & Human Beings

Blogspiration is a weekly meme hosted by GrowingUp YA & Saz101. The meme was created to help spark inspiration among bloggers, readers & writers alike. An inspirational quote/picture/video is posted weekly, on the day of the author's choosing, so that it may inspire creativity, conversation & just a little SOMETHING.

I know, I know, videos can be a pain to watch when you're trawling through blog posts, and I apologise. But if you have 90 seconds, and you've ever thought to yourself 'I can't', or 'I shouldn't' or 'but someone else has done/will do it better than I could,' I urge you to watch this video. If it's a choice been commenting, and watching this video, please, watch this video.

It's no secret I practically worship Neil Gaiman but, I think, you will understand precisely why after this.

Happy Sunday, folks. I hope you're having a loving weekend, and feeling inspired for the week ahead ♥

  1. WOW! That gave me chills, just up and down my body. That is exactly what I think, of everyone. No one person is the same, we are ALL different and that is what makes all the perspectives and this world such a great place. It would be really boring and sad without it.

  2. Whenever I need a new dose of inspiration, I know precisely where to go - here, on this blog. :) I loved this video, it's so touching and motivating! I practically worship Neil Gaiman as well, so much so that I'm sure we could start our own fan club. :D

    Happy Sunday, Sarah. :)

  3. That video made me cry. When I doubt myself (often) I'll have to remember this, and this: “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

Sarah, you inspire and teach me much and often <3

  6. Wow.

Oh my. I know how big a fan you are but I've yet to read a book by Neil Gaiman and discover him for myself but now I know why your such a big fan. He speaks so well and this is such an inspiring video, especially for those who doubt themselves about if there good enough.

But none of them are you and none of those people is going to make the art you will make. None of them will change people and change the world in the way you could change it. Such dreamy, beautiful words. Well spoken and so true. Two people could write the same story but what you bring to it and how you write can make all the difference. There will always be someone who can do it better than you wherever you turn - whether it be in school or writing or blogging - but that doesn't mean that your not good and valuable and special in your own way. We all bring something different to the table in the way we are and in what we do and how we do it. There is you and only you. You are unique so use that to your advantage and embrace it.

So...uh, I got a little carried away there. I'll probably have left you a nice long comment. But hey, you started it with your awesome video ;) Thank you for sharing this, Sarah! ♥ *huggles*

  7. That man is a genius. He is so right. Not only about people who want to become a writer, director etc. It's also about the fact that how many people there are on the world, there is only one you :) And in whatever you do, you are unique. He is so good with his words and if I wasn't a fan of him before, I would definitely be one now. Thank you for sharing this!

  8. Oh gods. Your adoration for Neil Gaiman is SO justified. The man is is amazing. This whole video is just... PURE inspiration. None of them are you. <3 EXACTLY it and it's so freaking INCREDIBLE of all the billions of souls in this world, that there is something unique inside of every single one of us. Humanity is pretty freaking amazing.

  10. Neil is so awesome. I love this video. I've had that problem. Even my family has said, "Everyone is a writer, you sure you want to be one too?" It hurt but I know in my hearts of hearts that no one can write MY book. A book from my imagination will be unique.

  16. Neil Gaiman is pretty damn awesome. I think that's what I loved most about The Graveyard Book - there were so many wonderful characters there with their own special stories, and all of them were there to show/teach Bid something really special which shaped who he became.
