The Best of 2012 Young Adult — FINAL Round!

Best of 2012 Young Adult
You’ve voted, we’ve tallied, and the numbers are in! Here are your Top Ten (give or take) contenders in each category for the best of 2012 Young Adult releases. Place your final votes, have fun, and may the odds be ever in your favourites’ favour!

Guidelines:

  • Voting is open until the 1st of January 2013

  • You may vote for one book in each category. Don’t have a vote? Just leave it blank.

  • Books with a ‘traditional’ pub date between December 2011 through to December qualify. We are aware there are a few books from Late November 2011 (Nov 28th) on the list.

  • Have fun, and spread the word!

Thank you to everyone who helped out during the voting process by picking up on mistakes, oversights, and being generally encouraging and amazing. After some discussion, we've decided to leave self-pubbed books in the voting which were first traditionally published in 2012. We’ll get it better next time, promise!

    Alice in Zombieland
    Changeling
    Cinder
Days of Blood and Starlight, Laini Taylor
    Diviners
    Don't Let Me Go
    Easy
    Everneath, Brodi Ashton
    Immortal Rules
    Insurgent
    Losing Lila, Sarah Alderson
    New Girl
    Obsidian
    Onyx
    Pushing the Limits
    Spark
    Speechless
    Statistical Probability
    Storm
    Stormdancer

    3 short stories/novellas:
    Catching Suki
    Elemental
    Free Four

And I've DNF'd one book because I wanted to throw it against a wall :P

Uh. Pretty much everything I haven't read on this list is on my TBR, too (ugh. And I own half of them)! ♥♥♥

  5. Oh goodness, right? Andrea just prompted me to count what I HAVE read, and then look at what I haven't and :O

I think every book on this list I haven't read is on my TBR O__o

  6. WOW, so many!

I stopped buying paper books halfway through the year but haven't managed to stop buying ebooks even though my TBR pile is out of control... I have made a vow to stop reading unfinished series and that's helped a bit! (I always end up forgetting so many details by the time the sequel gets published...)

  7. I voted! TELL US WHO WON. :D

Um, did CLOCKWORK PRINCE come out in Australia in 2012? U.S. release was December 2011, so for the historical fiction genre, I was a bit torn. But who am I kidding, CP still wins in the end for me.

  8. hehe! I was a little torn about whether it really belonged in historical at all, but it's kind of one of those genre-bending things!

I'm pretty sure we get simultaneous release on Cassie's books, but... hang on. It says May 2012 from Walker books. Huh. Go figure? We're including books from Dec 2011 - Dec 2012, so it kind of squeezes in anyway ♥
Hehe! I'm so excited to see who's winning, too!

  9. Same here! I've mainly been buying eBooks... but... I can't help myself! Because they're not physical I buy MORE.

Oh goodness... unfinished series. YES. I've done that before but now I am fail >__<

  11. *is encourated to count what I've read too*

    37 books :O
    4 novellas

That's like, ALMOST my ENTIRE reading list this year! haha. I've epicly failed my Goodreads Challenge. Even when I altered it to make the number lower in order to feel better about myself. Let's not discuss the number of books I've read.

ALL MY FAVOURITES ARE GOING TO WIN! WEEEEEEEE!

  12. PUSHING THE LIMITS. I'M GOING TO MAKE SURE IT WINS OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY!!!!

  16. RIIIIGHT? It's kind of like... oh! NUMBERS! I LIKE COUNTING NUMBERS :O

You're... wow. BRODIE HAS SUPER POWERS.
I am epic fail with my GR challenge. The only reason I'm at 87/100 is because I read 10 novellas in a row, and I'm counting stuff like Free Four, and Ash's love letter to Meghan :P

  17. AHEM. It *might've* been me taking turns on all the electronic devices with wifi at home to vote for PTL :P IT WILL WIN. IT WILL. IT WILLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! heheeee <3

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes yes. It might be, but we can never prove it. Hehehe :D
I reckon that one will be hard to pick. With TFiOS and PTL in the same category? :O

  19. Voted, voted, voted! And now I'm going to count how many I've read to join in the fun... 15 books and 4 short stories/novellas. Better than I thought I would do! But so many books listed I want to read and haven't. A have a few in my TBR pile, but there are others I want! Aaagh.

Really looking forward to reading the results! Hope none of the ones I hated win! :P
