Top 10 releases of 2012

The end of the year is upon us, and what better way to cap it off than to re-cap our favorite books? With only one day left to vote Inaugural 2012 YA Reader Choice Awards are winding up, but today I'm sharing my favorite releases of 2012.

top 10 releases of 2012

Well, that's my top 10 releases of 2012, in the order I read them. There are a few books which don't get mentiones here, purely by merit of them being 2011 releases. It made the task a LOT easier. What were your favorite 2012 reads? Did you post your top ten somewhere? Share a link in the comments!

  1. How freaking talented are you? Really. This is the best 2012 post I've seen because of the creativity behind it.

Oh yeah, the books are awesome too! I haven't read the Trumble one yet, but I can't wait to. And I love that line from Unraveling!

  2. Great picks! I see a few favourites of mine up there. By the way, I totally love the trail thing with your book pictures . . . very cute!

  3. Storm, Speechless, UtNS, and The Diviners were all some of my favorites too! Amazing list, Sarah! :D

  4. This post is so beautiful-I love the formatting and just everything about it. I've actually only read two of the books but Speechless is on my favorites list as well and most of the rest are on my tbr-list.

  6. Can I marry your beautiful designer brain? <3 Sorry, Mr. Sarah ;) This post is just too visually fabulous.

But YES to these! I can't believe I didn't include The Catastrophic History on mine... Or maybe it wasn't really top ten... I don't know! I feel like it's tougher for books that I read at the beginning of the year, you know? Oh well, it got YOUR attention, so no harm done.

Storm <3 The Diviners <3 Ah ah AAAAHH.

And omgggg, I can't believe I still haven't read Hannah Harrington. I scored a copy of both of her novels from a blogging meet-up though so hopefully I'll get to read them soon! :) That quote you posted is BEAUTIFUL.

Wow, UtNS made the list, huh? Just sneaked it into 2012 I see haha. Now I REALLY have to read it!

Hope the new year brings lots of good new books! :)

  7. Awesome picks. I LOVED Don't Let Me Go and I'm currently reading her next book, Where You Are, and loving it!

I want to read so many of these, though, like Hemlock and Speechless. The Diviners and Slated also look interesting!

Okay this is really terrible but I haven't read any of the books on this list :( It just goes to show that reading is so subjective and everyone had their own opinions.

  10. Love how you formatted this!! I adored Speechless and Easy, only just read Easy a week or so ago and now see what all the fuss was about

  11. GAH!!! I never to get Storm and Under the Never Sky. I feel like I am missing out.

  12. Oooh, pretty pretties. Yay for Storm and for Kyle from Deadly Hemlock and sadness and woe that I still haven't read Easy. Also ahahaha - I am completely and utterly unsurprised to see The Diviners on here, but! I hadn't realised you loved Under the Never Sky so much too.
You know what this list tells me Sarah? That you have very wide reading tastes. Sci-fi and dystopian and paranormals and contemporaries and historical paranormal. But no epic fantasies.
I've got my absolute favourites of the year going up tomorrow. :-)

  14. What an awesome post! It's a sign of how comparatively little I've read this year that I've only read one on this list (Unravelling). Oh well, hopefully I can make up for that in 2013. ;)

    My List

    Happy New Year, Saz! :)

  15. It was so hard to choose top books for me this year, so many good ones came out! Love your choices! I haven't read a few of them, and those are on my TBR, but I can't wait to get to them!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hah hah, I knew STORM was going to be on this list! I loved that too, as you know. And I also liked UNRAVELING, SPEECHLESS, DIVINERS, and EASY from your list. :) To another great book year in 2013, Sarah! Happy new year to you!

  17. SPEECHLESS! Defo one of the best books of 2012 :D and I must read Slated asap!

  18. Aw, Hannah, THANK YOU! ♥
I really, REALLY hope you like Don't Let Me Go if you get a chance to read it. It was one of those books which had a MASSIVE impact on me. I'm kind of WOW about it ^__^

AND UNRAVELLING. YES. OMFG YESSS. It's bizarre how romantic I find it ^__^

  19. Eeeee, Erin, thank you ♥
Seriously, 2012 was an AMAZING bookish year. Like, the bookpocalypse O__O

  20. Oh, Seriously, AMAZING books, right? I know not everyone loved them, but I think... eh, it doesn't matter. *I* did. KEERTANA. Your review of The Diviners was AMAZING. It was one of the things that made me fall so crazy in love with it to begin with, so I owe you a BIG THANK YOU ♥♥♥

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thank yooooou! ♥
I'm seeing so many lists which are making my TBR insane, so I get that. But Speechless. AMAZING, right? I seriously LOVE Hannah Harrington ♥

    ReplyDelete
  22. Amber! Thank you! That's going to go straight to my head, you know :D

I seriously thought Hemlock was one of the most udnerated books of the year. It is SO good.

    ReplyDelete
  23. All amazing picks!! I loved the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout and the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was on on my favorites as well, though I am yet to read the Evolution. Adored the creativity behind the post, the quotes and the covers *stares in awe* it's genius. May I ask what program you use? I think all the graphics you make are fantastic especially the ones for the Blogspiration posts. Great picks! :D

  24. I'LL MEET YOU IN THE CHAPEL AT NOON.

    Catastrophic History! ♥♥♥

I REALLY loved this book. I think it was largely a right time, right place with me, also, but YES. Books I read earlier in the year had a tougher time against books which were still fresh in my mind. I think that, once the initial honeymoon phase wears off, and and and *grins*

SONIA. You are going to LOVE Hannah. I can't wait to see what you think of Speechless! xx

    ReplyDelete
  25. OOHS. BEAUTIFUL GRAPHIC, though I really couldn't expect less from you, Sarah! :P AND YESH, I TOTES AGREE WITH YOU ON ALL THESE BOOKS... well, the ones I've read, which are most of them.

SPEECHLESS was among my favorites of 2012 - seriously, it was a heartbreaking and happy story at the same time! Liz Norris wowed me with UNRAVELING; her ideas were so original and she wrote the book AMAZINGLY. THE DIVINERS was a thick, juicy book. :D Probably one of the very few that truly managed to creep me out!

This post reminded me of the other books I need to check out: STORM and UNDER THE NEVER SKY. :P Thanks for sharing, Sarah!

  26. I am SO EXCITED you read Don't Let Me Go! I have Where You Are waiting on Kindle, but I need to actually get to it. HEMLOCK IS AMAZING. I think it's one of the most underlooked oaranormals of the year. It is... I LOVED it. I expected fairly stock-standard PNR and I was SO wrong.

Same goes for Slated -- Teri Terry is one hell of an author.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I was about to say that I DID TOO, but that's kind of a given :D

Slated is WONDERFUL. I think it's so underrated, and I kind of want to push it on everyone and make them all read it :D

    Ha! Thanks, Nea! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  28. Awww! It is SO not terrible. Reading is TOTALLY subjective. And... I mean, it takes TIME, also. How many books are released in a year, and how many can we actually read. It's CRAZY O__O

    ReplyDelete
  29. Aw, Cait, thank you! They're both wonderful books. You know, I read Easy while it was still self-pubbed (I AM SO NOT TRYING TO BE HIPSTER. I SWEAR). A friend had reviewed it and caught my interest and... I really am SO glad it got picked up and traditionally published. It's such a wonderful book with such a wonderful message ♥

    ReplyDelete
  30. You'll get to them eventually. I so SO hope you love Storm! *fingers crossed*

    ReplyDelete
  31. Storm and KYLE AND HEMLOCK! Seriously, I think Deadly Hemlock is one of the most wonderful and underrated books of this year. I want it to be the book EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT, but still ^__^

You know, I actually put this together when I was only half way through UtNS. Something about it grabbed me and captured me and... yes :D

AND DIVINERS. I really did think that was a truly fantastic book. Also: the Australian edition is so insanely pretty it's :O :O :O

And as for epic fantasies... hmm. You know, I think I may have only read the one this year, and that was Throne of Glass. Which I liked OK, but was solidly one of my most dissapointing books of the year (I had unrealistic expecations). And DoBaS would have been here, had I read it in 2012 (I only just finished it). It's so strange, as recently as, well, 5 years ago, I read almost exclusively epic fantasy. What happened there? O__o

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks, Roro! Oh, you know I loved Storm ♥

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks, Me! And happy new year to you, too! I hope you had fun ;D

    ReplyDelete
  34. Aa'Ishah! Seriously, I'm sure you've read a STACK of books I haven't. I know I reached 90 on my GR challenge, but at least 20 of those were novellas :P

I LOVED Unravelling, though. And your list was AWESOME ♥

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love this book SO much. I wish it had gotten more love ♥

    ReplyDelete
  36. Seriously, I had a few books that were *SO* close to making it and it was choosing between babies O__O

UGH. I still have so many 2012s to read -__-

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hehehe! I'm a little predictable, huh? :D

I'm so excited for Unravelling #2 this year! I'm wishing it was June, already.

And oh goodness. I know it's late, but happy new year, Wendy! ♥♥

    ReplyDelete
  38. Seriously, Speechless was AMAZING! And I'm so glad it got so much love because... oh, it's such a powerful message, wihtout being preachy? And and and ♥♥♥

I so hope you love Speechless, Mandee! xx

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh, I LOVED the Lux series (I got so addicted. Like whoa.) but I'm still waiting for the Unbecoming to come out in Australia!

OMG. Kaina, thank you! I use Photoshop. I work as a web/graphic designer, so I have easy access to it ;D
    Thank you so much! ♥

    ReplyDelete
  40. Aw, Megan! ♥
And... seriously, EVERYTHING YOU SAID. Speechless (I ADORE Hannah) and UNRAVELLING and The Diviners was WOW.

And I JUST read UtNS (it barely sneaked in) but it was so good
